Workshop on Self – Esteem Enhancement for Teachers

“Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self – esteem of their personnel.  If people believe in themselves, it’s amazing what they can accomplish’.

                                                                                                                                              Sam Walton

On 20th May 2016, an interactive workshop on Self-Esteem Enhancement was organized for the teaching faculty of St. Cecilia’s Public School, Vikaspuri.  The spokesperson of the workshop Ms. Vandana Tandon is renowned speaker on the need of enhancement of self-esteem as a continuous effort for the realization of self worth.  The workshop aimed at a better understanding of human psychology and behavior as well as the need to change and update with the changing time and beliefs.  The teachers participated in an activity where in all teachers had to individually attempt the ‘Feel Good Treat’ for a better understanding of their self.

The speakers also talked about the importance of self-growth and self-worth in adults as parents, teachers, role models as well as citizens.  The concepts of uniqueness – each one as a unique person, talent – areas of strength of any person, confidence and capabilities in any individual were taken up for discussion in an interactive manner.  Methodologies that enable a teacher to work on the low self esteem of any child were also discussed in the workshop.  A teacher must encourage and motivate the children in such a manner that their self esteem is boosted to produce better outputs.  Politeness and Humility were highlighted as two basic traits for a high self-esteem individual.

The workshop was indeed enriching experience for the teachers who were alighted to see themselves in an altogether new way.  The teachers also received a better insight in the reasons and factors that lead to low self esteem in any child.  The teachers went home with a thought of how to help the children become better individuals with good self-esteem.
