“A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new ….. India discovers herself again”

St. Cecilia’s Public School celebrated Independence Day 2014 of the nation with great pomp and gaiety. Every year, on this day, Indians pay homage and remember these great people with a sense of pride. There are functions and activities organized in the school to remember the day that we became a free nation. There was an official ceremony held at the school campus to mark the celebrations of the day. Madam Principal Mrs. R. Bhumra hoisted the tricolours flag flying wide in the school ground to commemorate Independence Day and to honour our freedom fighters. Madam Principal’s speech addressed to the students was the major highlight. In her eloquent speech, she addressed more than 2000 students from class I to XII. She said that 15th August 1947 the day is etched out in the minds and hearts of all Indians. India gained freedom after years of struggle against the British Rule. Independence Day is a moment of pride and glory.

The school marked the day with cultured programmes such as folk dance ‘Bihu’ a patriotic skit showcasing freedom struggle, patriotic song by students and a fabulous skating cum dance performance. More than 150 students from student council as well as the Peace, Unity, Equality and Justice house marched to honour the Indian flag. The preparations for this major event began a week in advance.
