Swatantrata Divas 2019 - India's 73rd Independence Day

  

  

  

As India celebrates her 73rd Independence Day on this August 15, 2019, St. Cecilia's Public School, Vikas Puri celebrated Independence Day of motherland India with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. On the morning of August 14, 2019, Cecilian student-teachers gleefully entered the school campus adorned with tri-colour dress code and flags.

The celebration began with the entire school assembling in the school campus adorned in Tri colour. The glorious day saw light with the unfurling of national flag by Madam Manager Mrs R Bhumra and Madam Principal Mrs Inderpreet Bhumra receiving honours from School March Past Battalion. The day was brought to life with the ceremonial raising of the national flag and singing of the national anthem. Madam Manager blessed the students with her enthusiastic words brimming with love for the country and the hope of an evil free India combating Corruption, Communal disharmony and poverty. Madam Principal in her address shared inspirational quotes on Freedom and expressed her views on What Freedom Means to us? Madam Principal emphasized on the fact that Independence Day is a moment to pay tribute to the ones who sacrificed everything for the Country's independence. She reminded everyone of the privilege to be born in an independent country and urged all to value and nurture this freedom. The commencement of the cultural presentation began with the inspiring words of Madam Principal.

The cultural programme commenced with everyone singing together ‘Vande Mataram’. The spirit of freedom and nationalism was well exhibited by the student-teachers through a spectrum of patriotic poems, speeches, patriotic dances and songs. The music choir enchanted the gathering by their performance which was appreciated by all. Both staff members and students pledged to serve their motherland through spreading education and serving the community as they pledged to be committed to the task of nation building, Students also presented an Act of heroism based on the contribution of unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle as well as the brave soldiers fighting the Indian borders. Teachers in their address spoke on the history and significance of the Independence Day and shed light on the special highlights of celebrations this year.

Joyfully, they conveyed their greetings in advance for Independence Day to Madam Manager, Madam Principal, Academic Advisor Sir and amongst each other. The celebrations concluded solemnly with the National Anthem.

Later in the day many activities were organized for the students to instill in them nationalist fervour, love for the motherland and patriotic values. In Classes VI – VIII, Class decoration and bulletin board decoration in Tri colour was taken up by students. Class XII and XI students had Group Discussions on "India of 2020” and “The much awaited change in Article 370”. Class IX and X students poured their heart out on A3 sheets as they made posters on topics - India of My Dreams and Unity in Diversity. The day ended on the promise of a better future with the hope of accomplishing brotherhood and peace.
